An online tool kit has been designed to teach children how to protect the Island's water as part of the Blue Fish campaign.
The Blue Fish campaign launched in 2011 and aims to increase public awareness about pollution and the damaging effects that can be caused by putting polluting substances such as paints, detergents, oils and litter into road drains that flow into Jersey's reservoirs, streams and ponds.
The new toolkit was created by the Government's Natural Environment department and Mont Nicolle Primary School. All schools are encouraged to download the toolkit from gov.je.
Water Resource Management and Regulation Officer, Shelley Hawkins, said: "I hope that teachers will find this toolkit useful in teaching pupils about the importance of protecting our waters.
"Working with Mont Nicolle school on this project has been an inspiration. The children showed their passion for protecting the natural environment and were keen to learn how they can take action themselves.
"Schools are encouraged to get involved by downloading the teaching toolkit and adapting it for any year group. We are also currently in the process of providing all Island primary schools with a Blue Fish walking route which will be in place next year."
Teacher at Mont Nicolle School, James Miles, said: "The Blue Fish toolkit is quick and pacey with a variety of creative teaching tools to help children of different ages understand the importance of protecting our natural environment.
"Mont Nicolle School are delighted to have been able to help create this toolkit which has been carefully designed to achieve curriculum objectives. It can be used as an off the shelf product or used as a starting point for creative learning."
