Islanders can now comment on the proposed development briefs for the delivery of affordable
homes on rezoned housing sites.
The sites are part of the bridging Island Plan and have been specifically allocated to help meet
Jersey’s housing needs. The land – in St John, St Martin, St Mary, St Ouen, St Peter, St Saviour
and Trinity – has already been endorsed for affordable housing by the States Assembly, when
members approved the bridging Island Plan in 2022.
The Minister for the Environment, Deputy Jonathan Renouf, is required to prepare briefs for
each of the sites to guide the development of new homes.
Deputy Renouf said: “The release of this guidance for consultation is the next step in the
progression of these sites, which will deliver much-needed new homes for Jersey. These sites
will play a crucial role in ensuring not only the supply of more affordable homes, but also the
development of sustainable and diverse parish communities.
“I will continue, along with the Minster for Housing and Communities, to engage with the
Constables about the delivery of homes in their parishes, and will work with all involved in the
development of these sites to ensure we deliver good homes and create great places to live.
“I’d particularly encourage Islanders who live near to these areas to look at the draft briefs and
to comment on them, as their views will help shape the final supplementary planning
guidance.”
The draft guidance can be read on www.gov.je/consultations and Islanders can comment by
emailing islandplan@gov.je or by post to: Draft SPG – public consultation, Place and Spatial
Planning, Cabinet Office, Government of Jersey, 19-21 Broad Street, St Helier, JE2 3RR.
The consultation is open until 23 June 2023.
