It’s important that your WiFi at home is secure. If it isn’t then anyone can use it and they could:
- take up your bandwidth – affecting the online speed of your own devices
- use your download allowance that you’ve paid for
- download inappropriate material, which would be traced to your address and not their computer
- access sensitive and private information that you may be sending or receiving online
Checking your WiFi is secure
You can check that you wifi is secure by searching for available wireless networks. All secure networks should have a padlock symbol next to them.
