The consistent height, proportions and materials of this row of early buildings is a fine enclosure to the north side of Royal Square. Context Nos. 13-16, forming one side of Royal Square, have similar elevational treatment. External Description 3 storey with attic, 3 bay. Front, south elevation: Slate roof, granite chimney with large cornice to E party wall, granite chimney to W has no cornice. Lead coping to E party wall. 3 box dormers with 2 pane (1/1) timber sashes with horns, lead covered cheeks and roof. Original stone gutter tray (with iron gutter above). Walls are painted render with ashlar effect and stone dressings to segmental headed window openings, under eaves and W quoins. Windows are 2 pane (1/1) flat headed, sashes with horns (2nd floor replacements). Flag pole to centre at 1st floor cill level. Ground floor is banded, rusticated render with full width cornice and frieze, raised render architraves with roundels to windows and pilasters with fluted brackets to door and west party wall. Windows are 12 pane replacements and door is 6 panel replacement with stained glass overlight.
