Context n/a External Description Masonry wall of military origins. The north and eastern sections are original, constructed principally of large irregular blocks of stone, with pinning stones in the larger mortar joints. The alignment of the wall is gently curved, and has a pronounced batter. The upper courses of the wall tops are modern. The height of the walling is reduced on the southern section (beyond the promenade shelters) and the construction changes to smaller masonry, with no batter to the wall, and it seems likely that some C20 remodelling of this section has taken place. A concrete 'buttress' on the southeast corner may relate to a German Occupation modification but has no specific known interest.
