Listed building or place reference: HE1446 Historic site reference Property St. Andrews Church Road name Le Mont Cochon Parish St. Helier LocationView on map Grade Listed Building Grade 2 Category Church and Chapel. Statement of significance A high quality example of early 20th century church architecture. Context n/a External Description The building is constructed of squared rubble granite with ashlar dressings, and is well detailed inside and out. Comprises nave and chancel under a continuous roof, north and south aisles, and south-west tower. The east and west windows are in the form of three chamfered lancets with continuous drip moulding. The aisle windows are divided by mullions into three lights, each with an accoladed head. There is a small north porch with receding arched doorway. The main entrance, of similar pattern, is at the base of the tower at the south-west corner of the church. The bell stage of the tower has octagonal corner turrets and triple louvered bell openings under Tudor arches. There are substantial buttresses all round, the tower having angle buttresses. The gabled church roof is covered with red tiles in a continuous 'cat slide' sweep over nave and aisles. A large brick faced church hall with a red tiled roof was built in the 1970's abutting the church to the south (this is not of interest). Internal Description The interior retains its integrity and unity of design. There is a barrel vaulted roof, with granite arched arcades to the north and south aisles. The original choir stalls, organ and altar are in situ. The pews were a later addition installed in 1959. The parquet flooring was installed in 1946. The stone pulpit was added in 1948. There is a collection of fine stained glass windows, including a work by T Bosdet on the north wall (originally in St James Church) and relocated in 1984.
