Context Terrace of 8 properties. External Description Set back, part of a symmetrical terrace of 8 houses arranged in a half moon around a private garden. Houses linked by single storey blocks with doorway. Main house 2 storey, 3 bay plus a single storey, 1 bay side link. West elevation: hipped roof, oversailing eaves, central chimney stack with many pots, roof lights, stucco facade, rusticated quoins. Rendered facade, 12 pane (6/6) sash windows. 1st floor windows 12 pane (6/6) sashes, no horns, shutters. Ground floor French windows, shutters, no window guards. Ground floor canopy carried on slender reeded columns. Side bay with slate roof, rendered facade, granite steps up to doorway with single iron handrail. 3 panelled door with glazed overlight. Arch headed 8 pane casement window. North elevation: small roof dormer with 2 pane (1/1) sash with horns. Rendered facade, 12 pane (6/6) sash windows. Garage door inserted into boundary wall. Property fronted by rubble stone wall. Terrace fronted by random coursed, squared granite stone wall with granite piers. Internal Description Ground plan double-pile, with service wing to rear, basement (originally kitchen). Large reception-hall area with a shallow-arched alcove with built-in side-board/cupboard (possibly original). The mahogany staircase forms a well and has a round handrail returning in a horizontal-spiral terminating in a bun finial with mother of pearl button, turned balusters, and applique to risers. The stair retains a pair of niches flanking the arch-topped stair window. The main front living-room has internal shutters and panelled sliding dining-room dividers, but has lost it's original fireplace and ceiling-rosette. All doors throughout are 4 panel pine originals with generous architraves and mouldings. No original fireplaces survive in any of the upper-floor bedrooms. The attic is reached by an enclosed simple stairway, secondary light is supplied by a small 6 pane 3/3 window let into the enclosure, there are no features within the attic. The cellar is now a recreational area for the house. It was once the kitchen and coal-store. Cellar reached via an original staircase with mahogany round handrail, turned newel-post and painted stick balusters The owner recounts that a dumb-waiter was found within the wall and was boarded over.
