Former rear (south) service wing greatly altered and not included within listing.
Internal Description
Ground plan, side entrance, double pile. The entrance reception-hall has been partitioned to form two small extra ancillary rooms. The mahogany staircase has a pad-topped handrail returning in a horizontal-spiral, terminating in a bun-finial with button-insert, turned balusters, and applique to the risers. There is a pair of niches at half landing level (once the position of an arched stair window). The main front living-room has an original marble chimney-piece with an original mid C19 grate, recently brought from elsewhere. The room has an original rosette but with a recent ceiling-rose introduced, having lost its original middle leaves. The room also retains its original internal-shutters (functioning) though the concertina doors through to the rear dining-room are lost. All doors throughout the house are 4 panel mid C19 soft-wood originals. The upstairs bedrooms retain fireplaces, though their grates are now of late C19 or Edwardian origin, one chimney piece has been boarded with elaborate applique in recent times and the other is an original (also present in same position in the neighbouring house to the east). The attic is reached via an enclosed cupboard-stair, the only feature being a very small half-grate with feathers and thistle Regency decoration.
