A good example of an Edwardian parish hall; employing Victorian Tudor Gothic style with most historic and internal features that are excellently preserved. Context Adjacent to school building dated 1901 to east. External Description Parish hall, originally detached but now partly attached via 1976 extension (not of interest) to school house at east end. Pitched slate roofs to hall and west wing, stone copings and kneelers, stone ball finials, 2 chimneys in ridge to north and south of hall, northern one inset from gable and larger than southern which rises from the south gable, both dressed granite with cornice, louvered ventilation cupola to centre of ridge; pyramidal slate roof to tower: triangular louver to each face, iron weather vane, stone brackets supporting gutters, circular clock face to 3rd storey on north and west elevations. All elevations in uncoursed rock cut granite, dressed granite quoins and openings, date and name stone in north gable of hall, '1912 Salle Paroissiale Herbert Falla Connetable'. Ground floor windows with dressed stone mullions and transoms, geometric leaded glazing, opaque glass. Front (north) elevation: single storey wing to east (including single bay eastern extension dated 1976), 2 storey central main hall, 3 storey tower to west. 6 bays - 2 (wing): 3 (main hall): 1 (tower); single storey enclosed porch to hall, pitched slate roof, coping, ball finial to gable, large round entrance arch, offset corner buttresses, windows to west and east sides, central double doors, timber, 6 panel each, large fan light, leaded coloured patterned glazing including Jersey coat of arms and date 1912. Multicoloured geometric patterned encaustic tile floor. Side (west) elevation: 5 bay, north bay comprises tower, 4 bays to south comprise west elevation of hall, set back and divided by buttresses. Rear (south) elevation: tower blank, hall with large central pointed Gothic window, Y tracery, 3 sharply pointed lancets, drip moulding, small door to east. Internal Description To front of building (north) porch leads into vestibule along width of hall flanked by former committee room to east (now a lobby and staircase), and the Constable's room in the tower to the west, the vestibule has dado rail and vertical tongue and groove panelling below, with an open well timber staircase at the west side of the vestibule, moulded profile hand rail, turned balusters, squared chamfered newels to each landing with ball finials. The hall is entered from the south side of the vestibule via further timber double doors, 8 panels each. Hall to south retains many notable features including: fireplaces set into north-east and south-west corners, stepped hoods, ornamental iron surrounds with mantels; timber dado rail, vertical tongue and groove panelling below, timber roof trusses on granite corbels, timber diagonally laid tongue and groove ceiling, 3 large iron ventilation roses, timber stage to south end with Gothic ornamentation along frontage of stage, steps to either side, timber proscenium arch, to east of stage doorway to rear.
