Context n/a External Description A fortified position located above the natural ditch on Plemont headland - identified as a potential landing place. Commonly referred to as 'Plemont Fort' but is actually an unusual design 2-storey guardhouse with rectangular plan. Walls of rubble granite with rows of musket loopholes on each floor facing into the ditch. Landward face of ditch faced with rubble granite with masonry bridge linking to the far headland. Defendable entrance gateway with flanking granite walls. Converted by German occupying forces in 1940s, principally into searchlight shelter with railway lines and twin operating platforms.
