Statement of significance A good example of church with mid-19th century origins, of significant landscape value. Context n/a External Description The church has a cruciform plan and is built of grey granite with gabled slate roofs. The nave has five bays and the chancel, which has a slightly lower roof, has two. There are buttresses all around, with angle buttresses at the corners. The windows are all lancet, most with stained glass. There is a fine example by H.T. Bosdet, 'The Good Shepherd' (1922) positioned in the 3rd bay on north wall, and some windows transferred from St James' Church. Some window openings were altered in the mid-20th century. The west window, originally a larger window in the Decorated style, was altered to two lancets with a roundel above, and the south window to two lancets with a diamond shaped window above - probably around 1948 when the church hall was built in a similar style with funds provided by Mr T. B. Davies. The triple lancet east window is believed to be earlier. There is a south porch attached to the middle bay of the nave. It has a gable with a niche, and a granite roof. The west door is plain, with drip-moulding above the arch and may be a 1940s addition as well. The original oak doors have been replaced with glass doors. There is an ashlar bellcote at the point where the nave and chancel roofs meet. The wrought-iron screen, which originally divided the chancel from the nave and transepts, has been moved outside and is now in the small garden to the north of the church. There is a stone boundary wall to the south of the church, enclosing a small garden area which provides a setting to the buildings. The only feature of interest is the war memorial, circa 1922, a Cross of Sacrifice of local design - a simple Latin cross in granite on a stepped base, with inverted bronze sword and dedicatory inscription to the fallen. Internal Description The interior of the church is relatively plain. Of particular note is the arched brace roof, carried on stone corbels, and the arcaded reredos. The interior of the church hall is not included within the listing.
