Statement of significance An outstanding example of a Methodist church, in the style of a Classical Ionic temple, with associated buildings (included for their group value and historical interest) and grounds. Context n/a External Description Classical Ionic temple, with tetrastyle portico to east front and round arched windows separated by giant Ionic pilasters. Built in 1880 to designs of Le Sueur and Bree. The building incorporates the foundation stone of an earlier 1827 chapel. The site includes an attached manse (or chapel-keeper's cottage) and Sunday School in-line to the west, which are included for their group value. Boundary wall, gateways and railings to the east. Internal Description The interior interest applies to the main chapel building. A large 5-bay chapel with pitchpine pews and arcaded panelling to the gallery front. There is a very fine west end with tiered communion area (with cast iron Decorated frontal), rostrum, organ and flanking choir pews. There is grained work to this area and the gallery columns. Coving to coffered ceiling with foliate roses.
