There is no overarching strategy to address the learning needs of service users, as described by the requester.
Whilst Le Geyt centre is a hub for Day Services, the aspiration is that as much activity takes place in the community as is possible and desired by service users. Community participation is, therefore, a daily and individual activity.
The service works alongside MENCAP, Jersey Employment Trust, Maison Des Landes Hotel, Parish Halls, and with other providers of social care services (this is not an exhaustive list).
There are fewer than five people who attend Le Geyt currently undertaking work placements. As numbers are small, disclosure control is applied to protect individuals from identification, and Article 25 of the Freedom of Information (Jersey) Law 2011 has been applied to protect the privacy of individuals.
28 staff work in the day service facility. Staff undertake the professional care qualifications required for their role and grade, as set out in the table below:

D
Future Plans for the Day Service:
There are no plans to close or restructure the day service in the near future.
E
Respite Services:
Whilst building of life or vocational skills may constitute part of the offer at Le Geyt, the service is run and rationed primarily as a short break service, and is provided to individuals who live at home with an informal carer.
The number of spaces available for this provision is equivalent to the maximum number of service users as set out in the 2023 Jersey Care Commission inspection report:
Inspection Report - Le Geyt Adult Day Centre.pdf (carecommission.je)
Each provision of services at Le Geyt is based upon a needs assessment.
Le Geyt Day Centre has core operating hours of 09:30 to 15:00 for service users, however, based on assessed need, services are provided outside of these hours. The service is restricted to weekdays only at present. The duration, session length and time of the service an individual receives is based on their individual assessment of need.
Additional Questions:
Needs Assessment:
With specific regards to Le Geyt Day Centre, the Government of Jersey has not conducted any recent needs assessments to understand the current and future service needs of people with learning disabilities in Jersey. There is ongoing work between Health and Community Services (HCS) and Children, Young People, Education and Skills (CYPES) to understand future demand.
Service User Feedback:
A touch screen satisfaction survey has been installed in the building. The most recent results are attached, and include comparative data for previous months.
September 2024 Service User Feedback.pdf
Incident and feedback reporting are part of governance arrangements for Le Geyt. Annual reviews are undertaken for all attendees and a user feedback survey will be undertaken on an annual basis.
Learning disability strategy:
There is not a specific Government of Jersey Learning Disability Strategy. The Disability and Inclusion Strategy end of year report 2022 (published on www.gov.je) references the Learning Disability Service:
Disability and Inclusion Strategy end of year report 2022 (gov.je)
Nursing care or high dependency provision:
Le Geyt is not registered to provide nursing care. There is no formal corporate plan for Le Geyt to provide such services in the next 5 years.
