Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS) is a mental health service that supports children and young people up to the age of 18. We can help you with a range of difficulties. Find out more about the support we offer on our

Below you can find information on the different teams we have, what they offer, and what type of professionals work within these teams.
Early Intervention and Prevention Team
The Early Intervention Service offers brief interventions to young people with mild to moderate emotional wellbeing and mental health difficulties. We work on areas such as anxiety, low mood and emotional regulation in 1-1 and group settings.
We also offer parent and family work, in addition to training and consultation to schools.
Our team is made up of:
- primary mental health workers

Parent Infant Psychotherapy (PIP) Service
- wider community projects that promote positive health and wellbeing
- collaborative work with partner agencies including the Yes Project, Youth Service, Mind Jersey, school counsellors and educational psychology
Duty and Assessment Team
Our Duty and Assessment Practitioner is available in the
Children and Families Hub to provide advice, information and support to families and professionals from 9am to 5pm, Monday to Friday.
Our experienced mental health nurses screen referrals made to CAMHS and decide which pathway is most appropriate. We respond to young people in crises, complete initial assessments and design support plans, offer brief interventions and offer outreach into family homes and inpatient settings.
We provide:
- advice and support through the Children and Families Hub
- review of crisis situations
- initial assessments and case formulation or treatment plans
- brief therapeutic interventions
- engagement with services and psychosocial support and interventions
- support with hospital stays and discharges including ward-based assessments
Specialist CAMHS Team
The Specialist CAMHS Team works with children and young people with moderate to severe mental health presentations. We offer a wide range of services, such as Psychiatry, Psychology, therapeutic input, family therapy, eating disorder intervention, and positive behaviour support.
We also work on a wide range of mental health areas.
We offer:
- brief solution focussed therapy
- Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)
- counselling through YES and school counselling
- creative therapies, including art therapy
- Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT)
- Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR)
- evidence based group interventions including working with partner agencies
- family therapy
- Interpersonal Therapy (IPT)
- psychiatric intervention
- psychodynamic psychotherapy
- medication provision and administration using shared care arrangements where possible
- advice, education and skills programmes for parents or carers, schools and professionals

Neurodevelopmental Team
Our Neurodevelopment Team assesses individuals who may be neurodivergent.
If you are neurodivergent, it's likely that you will have a number of different unique traits. Everyone in this world is unique, and so are their brains. There is no "right" way of thinking, learning and behaving.
When you're referred to us you'll be screened so we can tailor our support to meet your needs. This will be done through an online tool or a face-to-face assessment.
You may be screened for:
- Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)
- Autistic Spectrum Disorder (ASD)
- Fetal Alcohol Syndrome Disorder (FASD)

We are both a diagnostic and support service available before, during and after diagnosis.
Some children who may not receive a clear diagnosis but continue to have behaviours or other symptoms are also considered for support.
Neurodevelopmental Service support pack
Children in Care Team
The Children in Care Team ensures there's sufficient and robust support in place for children and young people in care and the system around them, to best promote good mental health and quality of life.
We work together with our Specialist CAMHS Team, if you require mental health support.
We offer:
- consultations to foster carers and any other professionals working with looked after children
- specific information, advice, consultation to children’s social care workforce
- specific treatment options
- prioritisation of assessment for adopted and looked after children
Transition Service
CAMHS supports young people up to the age of 18, after this our transition service co-ordinates a smooth change of care to
adult mental health services.
