French Season

​​​​​​​​About French Season: La Saison Française

French Season will take place from Saturday 22 June 2024 to Sunday 28 July 2024.

Cultural institutions from around the Island are joining forces to bring us a step closer to our neighbours as a 'warm-up' to the 2024 Paris Olympics. Focused around 2 annual public French cultural events, Fête de la Musique and Bastille Day, the 2024 French season will offer free cultural activities for the whole family.

About Fete de La Musique (World Music Day)





The Fête de la Musique, also known as World Music Day, is celebrated annually in June on the day of the Summer Solstice. In France, it is a cultural tradition for musicians, amateur and professional alike, are encouraged to perform in public spaces for all to hear.

This year, the picturesque streets of St Helier will come alive with the vibrant sounds of music. A carefully curated mix of home-grown musicians, and French Normandy acts. 

There will be 3 performance spaces in town:

  • ​​the Royal Square
  • the Cider Press
  • in front of Paperchase

About Bastille Day

Bastille Day in Jersey is more than just a fun celebration, it's a testament to the enduring friendship and shared history between our Island and France. 

Details regarding a very French celebration on Sunday 14 July with the Honorary Consul of France will be released soon.​

Organising bodies

French Season (La Saison Française) in Jersey is presented in 2024 by a group of 4 local cultural institutions:

With their collective connections to both music and French culture, the team for the 2024 French Season has organised cultural activities which Islanders can access for free.

This event is also sponsored by the Creative Island Partnership.

The Creative Island Partnership

The CIP has been established by the Government as a forum for individuals interested in working together to deliver the objectives of the Arts Strategy.

The CIP provides a space for knowledge exchange, ideas generation and direct engagement with Government. The network includes leaders from: 

  • arts and cultural organisations
  • people directly engaged and involved with the arts
  • lead partners in sport, education, business, health, tourism, and the environment
  • Members will be a part of developing the pillars of the Arts strategy
