  • celebrate their creativity
  • become an active part of the community

All our sessions are based on one of our curriculum themes:

  • health and wellbeing
  • global citizenship
  • the environment
  • identity and belonging
  • transitions
  • economic and financial wellbeing

Becoming a volunteer

By volunteering with us you can make a positive difference to a young person’s life.

A good volunteer can talk and listen to young people. They’re also willing to learn what youth work is about.

We would love to hear from you if:

  • you’re aged 18 or over
  • you have an interest in supporting young people
  • you have 3 or more hours a week to come and help

To apply to become a volunteer. You need 2 referees who must:

  • have known you for at least 2 years in a professional capacity, such as employer or teacher. You cannot use your friends or family
  • have given you permission to share their contact details
  • be prepared to answer questions about your suitability to work with young people

You'll also need to do an Enhanced DBS check. You can’t volunteer if you have a criminal record.

If you would like to volunteer email volunteer@jys.je.

Support and advice for young people

The Youth Enquiry Service (YES) offers advice and counselling support for young people aged 12 to 25.

They also have drop-in sessions for you to walk in and speak to a member of the team about any issues.
