Transport & Technical Services are pleased to announce the first winners of Coke’s Big Plastic Bottle Recycle. The lucky recycler who has won £200 is Mrs Fiona Harris. As part of the prize, Mrs Harris chose Trinity School to also receive £200.
Coke’s Big Plastic Bottle Recycle is being run by the Transport and Technical Services Recycling Team and has been kindly sponsored by Coca-Cola. The competition was launched in September with the aim of encouraging more people to recycle.
Emma Richardson, Assistant Recycling Officer, said ‘The competition provides an opportunity to reward people who are already recycling and an incentive to motivate people to start recycling. The competition runs until December so we hope that recycling will become habit for people who are entering the competition and that they will continue recycling when the competition closes.’
Denise Murphy, Marketing Manager for Cimandis (distributor of Coca-Cola in the Channel Islands) said: ‘We are delighted with the number of entries we have received as it means the competition is achieving our aim of telling more people how their empty plastic bottles can be recycled.’
The competition runs until Sunday 7th December 2008 so there is still plenty of time to enter.
All you need to do is write your telephone number using a permanent marker pen on clean, empty plastic bottles and then take the bottles to one of the island’s 15 recycling sites. St John householders can also add the bottles to their kerbside recycling collection. The more bottles you recycle, the more chance you have of winning.
Mrs Harris, the winner of the first draw, said ‘I am thrilled to have won! As a household, we have been recycling our newspapers, magazines and plastic bottles for quite some time so this is a fantastic reward. I am also pleased to be able to help Trinity School raise money towards new playground equipment.’
