Employment Tribunal releases Annual Report

The Jersey Employment Tribunal has released its annual report for the period from 1 July 2007 to 30 June 2008.

The report shows that 164 applications were submitted to the Employment Tribunal during the period under review, 66 fewer than in the previous year. 76 were settled by the parties without a Tribunal hearing. Of the cases heard by the Tribunal, 11 found in favour of the employee and 6 in favour of the employer. Most of the cases coming before the Tribunal continue to relate to unfair dismissal and payment of wages.

Social Security Minister, Paul Routier said: “I am very grateful to the Tribunal Chairman Advocate Le Quesne, his Deputy Chairman, the members of the Employment Tribunal and their Secretary for their continued commitment during the past year.”

The report will be laid before the States, as required by the Employment Tribunal (Jersey) Regulations 2005.
