Railway Walk reopens

21 March 2013

Transport and Technical Services (TTS) has now reopened the Railway Walk in St Brelade.

The recent snow and blizzards caused a lot of damage to trees along the Railway Walk, resulting in blockages and dangerous overhanging branches. The path has been closed to ensure public safety and to allow clearance to take place.

TTS’s Forestry Team has worked hard over the last few days to ensure that the pathway, which is used by many people, is cleared as soon as possible.  There is still a lot of tidying up over the coming weeks but this will not restrict access.

There are three sets of barriers along the walk where there have been land slippages. While care should be taken when passing these barriers, they do not restrict access.

The Minister for Transport and Technical Services said “The recent snowfall has caused a lot of extra work for TTS, not just snow clearance but also dealing with the resultant damage that has occurred.”
