Are you ready for Brexit?

03 October 2019

From concerns about food and medicine supplies to questions about passports and applying for settled status, islanders can raise their Brexit-related queries with Ministers and experts at an event on Monday (7th October).

The all-day Jersey Brexit Ready event, held at the Royal Yacht Hotel, will set out the government’s preparations for a No Deal Brexit and will launch several initiatives, including an opportunity for members of the public to contribute their views on Jersey’s future trade policy.

As well as timed sessions, which vary from presentations and round-table discussions to Q&As and business briefings, islanders can pop in at any point during the day to speak to representatives from Jersey Customs and Immigration, DVS, and Health and Community Services.

A morning presentation at 09.15am will outline the government’s ongoing Brexit preparations and attendees will be able to review the updated Brexit Business Checklist, a practical guide for businesses. The morning session will also launch the Let’s Talk Trade public consultation, which sets out discussions on how Jersey will trade with the UK, EU and rest of the world after Brexit.

Business owners are being encouraged to join an afternoon event with panel of Brexit experts to discuss the possible scenarios that might affect local industries. Led by Jersey Business, the session will look at the new customs arrangements, staffing concerns and managing stocks, supplies and cash flow. There will be opportunities to ask questions and speak one-to-one with experts.

There will also be an Honorary Consuls briefing before a Brexit Panel discussion and Q&A event at 17.30pm hosted by the Jersey Chamber of Commerce and streamed on Facebook live. Members of the public are encouraged to attend and ask their burning questions.

Events are free to attend but some require islanders to register their attendance.
