Last month of draft Island Plan consultation phase

15 June 2021

With less than four weeks of the consultation phase remaining, Islanders are being encouraged to participate in the draft bridging Island Plan consultation by submitting their comments before Monday 12 July.

The Plan touches on all areas of Island life and covers the period between 2022-2025. Feedback (via formally submitted comments) will be published and considered by an independent planning inspector and the Minister for Environment, before the Plan is later debated by the States Assembly in 2022.

Throughout May, a series of themed online webinars were held, along with drop-in events in each parish. These webinars are now available for Islanders to view.

Islanders are able to review the draft bridging Island Plan and submit their comments at www.gov.je/islandplan. Alternatively, copies of the Plan are available to view at Parish Halls and Jersey Library.

Minister for Environment, Deputy John Young, said: "I am pleased with the high level of engagement from Islanders so far. The online and parish events have been useful in highlighting Islanders' strongly held views on certain proposals and policies within the Plan.

"It is positive to see this ongoing public discussion but as the draft bridging Island Plan is an important and extensive document, there are still some important subject areas that have not seen much feedback yet.

"There is under a month remaining of the public consultation phase, so I want to remind Islanders of the importance of reviewing the Plan and then formally submitting their views."
