The 2025 Budget supports Government priorities, delivers
solutions to the immediate and long-term challenges facing
Islanders, and helps to curb growth in the public sector, says the
Chief Minister, Deputy Lyndon Farnham.
Deputy Farnham was speaking to the heads of four Scrutiny
Panels, led by the Corporate Services Scrutiny Panel, where he
reiterated the Government’s commitment to preventing
unnecessary expenditure and maintaining strong public finances.
He said: “The 2025 Budget aligns the financial resources of
government with the priorities outlined in the Common Strategic
Policy. This budget provides stability, demonstrates fiscal
responsibility, and ensures that public funds are used in a
targeted and controlled way that aims to achieve the best
outcomes for Islanders.”
Subject to approval by the States Assembly, the 2025 Budget will
invest in essential frontline services and other initiatives,
including:
- Sufficient funding to deliver good quality services in health
care
- Construction of the new hospital at Overdale
- The extension of nursery and childcare provision
- Improved standard of living for workers by transitioning to a
Living Wage for Jersey, with appropriate support for
businesses
- Increased personal tax allowances and a freeze on alcohol
and fuel duty to help Islanders manage cost of living
pressures.
