Government statement: IT outage update

19 July 2024

Global IT problems are causing major issues with airlines, banks, governments, and many other industries.  As yet the root causes are not known, nor how widely this will affect organisations and businesses in Jersey specifically.

We know so far that IT services that are impacted include GP Services in Jersey across all surgeries as well as in the UK. Global systems and networks such as BACS payments have also been significantly impacted.

The Government has set up an incident response team based in Jubilee Wharf and will be monitoring events and providing regular updates as the situation evolves.

Current Government update at 11:18am, Friday 19 July:

  • Emergency services responses are unaffected. In an emergency, please call 999, as usual
  • The hospital remains open and patients are advised to attend appointments as normal
  • GPs have asked us to communicate that they would like patients to attend as normal unless otherwise advised
  • Customer and Local Services is open
  • Jersey Schools SIMS student registration system is affected but schools are open as normal
  • Online ID systems such as JerseyMe and Yoti are currently unaffected
  • Online tax forms are currently unaffected
  • Ports of Jersey are providing updates on the airport and harbour, and any questions on those services should be directed to them
  • Jersey Telecom advised M&D they have no impact
