Exam results

A-levels

The table below contains a breakdown of the percentage of each grade achieved from 2014.

*Comparisons between years are not appropriate due to the use of teacher assessed grades, centre assessed grades and changes in examination methodology caused by the Coronavirus pandemic (COVID-19). In 2022/23 there was a return to pre-pandemic standards for A-Levels and AS-Levels with protection built into the grading process to recognise the disruption that students faced.

Jersey students sit a blend of UK and international A-Levels. In addition to the use of International A-Levels, Jersey accountability measures take each pupil’s best entry in a subject, whilst England only count their first entry. For these reasons it is not appropriate to directly compare Jersey’s results with those of England.

GCSEs

The tables below show the percentage of each grade achieved from 2014. NB The shift to the numerical grading system was introduced in England in 2017 firstly in English language, English literature, and maths.  By 2020 all GCSE subjects had shifted to number grades, although a small number of IGCSEs still receive letter gradings. This means that from 2017 onwards, some pupils received a combination of letter and number grades.

*Comparisons between years are not appropriate due to the use of teacher assessed grades , centre assessed grades and changes in examination methodology caused by the Coronavirus pandemic (COVID-19). In 2022/23 there was a return to pre-pandemic standards for GCSEs with protection built into the grading process to recognise the disruption that students faced.

Jersey students sit a blend of UK and international GCSEs (IGCSEs), particularly in English and Mathematics. In addition to the use of IGCSEs, Jersey accountability measures take each pupil’s best entry in a subject, whilst England only count their first entry. For these reasons it is not appropriate to directly compare Jersey’s results with those of England.
