About marine habitats in Jersey
Jersey’s waters contain an extraordinarily rich and diverse range of marine habitats, which have been mapped and reported on in the
Jersey Marine Spatial Plan.
Several of these habitats are internationally recognised for their importance to global ecosystems and are recognised as threatened under international agreements such as OSPAR, Ramsar, and Convention on Biological Diversity. These include:
- kelp forests
- maerl beds
- seagrass meadows
