Dermatology department

​Dermatology d​epartment

We provide personalised, evidence-based care, treatment and education for people with a range of skin conditions, including but not limited to:

  • malignant melanoma and non-melanoma skin cancers
  • psoriasis
  • eczema

Our team 

Our medical team is led by Consultant Dermatologist and consists of:

  • 1 GP with an extended role in dermatology
  • 2 GPs with a special interest in dermatology
  • a specialist nurse manager 
  • a dermatology nurse specialist 
  • a skin cancer clinical nurse specialist 
  • healthcare assistants
  • a receptionist
  • 2 secretaries ​

Treatments

The treatments we offer include:   

  • skin cancer treatments, surgery under local anaesthetic, and topical therapies
  • cryotherapy
  • photodynamic therapy
  • patch testing
  • topical treatments
  • wound care
  • trial of iontophoresis

Our location

We are situated on the third floor of the Gwyneth Huelin Wing of the General Hospital.​ Enter via Outpatient department and follow the directions.

Parking is available in Patriotic Street car park. Ensure you put enough time on your parking ticket.

Referral process

If you have a skin condition that needs support of our team, you must get a referral from your GP. We cannot see patients without a referral.

All referrals are systematically sorted by the Consultant Dermatologist according to the urgency of need for care.

To optimise appointments, we can only see you for the condition you are referred for. If anything develops once you are referred, or your skin condition changes while you are waiting for an appointment, discuss this with your GP.
