The St Helier Street Life Programme has already delivered pedestrian and environmental improvements to the town centre. It has:
- refurbished public spaces and created new ones at West Centre and Charing Cross
- widened pavements
- provided new seating
- put up new lighting
- planted more trees
- created more cycle parking
- designated new delivery bays in:
- Sand Street
- Bath Street
- New Street
- Colomberie
- York Street
Traffic management
Changes have also been made to the management of the traffic in town (in Union Street, New Street and the surrounding area) to reduce traffic at its heart and to make it a safer and more pleasant place for pedestrians.
