There is a strong connection between Islander’s mental and physical health and wellbeing and our natural environment. This includes the countryside, coasts and the species we share them with.
Jersey has demonstrated its commitment to protecting local and global biodiversity by signing up to a number of environmental agreements. The natural environment also plays an important role in reducing the impacts of climate change and reaching the Island’s net zero carbon goal.
Key issues:
- Global biodiversity crisis
- Climate change
- Biosecurity and invasive non-native species
- Import and export of animals, animal products and plants
- Balancing natural habitats with a growing population
- Genetically modified organisms (GMOs)
