You no longer need planning permission to change the use of a dwelling house. This includes a flat or apartment
being used as a short-term holiday let.
To be considered short-term holiday let, your property must be:
-
let for up to 12 weeks in a calendar year
-
used for people visiting for leisure or recreational purposes
If you make physical changes to the property, you may need approval under planning or the building bye-laws.
Find more details on how to create other forms of holiday lets in the supplementary planning guidance below.
This includes:
- a new build development
- conversion of existing buildings
- relevant Island Plan policies and how those policies will guide decisions on proposals that still need planning permission
