The adoption and application of revised minimum space standards for residential development will help ensure that new homes:
- meet the needs of a diverse range of users, taking into account factors such as the ageing population and cultural differences
- are adequate in size, fit for purpose and are adaptable to the changing needs of their occupants over time
- are appropriate relative to the context of needing to deliver more homes whilst creating great places to live
This guidance supersedes any previous guidance issued in relation to residential space standards.
