Esplanade carriageway reconstruction work

About the project

As part of the ongoing highway maintenance by Infrastructure and Environment, the Esplanade’s carriageway is being reconstructed between the junction with Gloucester Street and the junction with Peirson Road.

The project is split into 4 sections and each section will be constructed during the school holidays. To minimise the disruption to traffic 2 lanes in each direction will remain open during the project.

We will implement a contra-flow system and provide diversions within the local area. The contra-flow system will be implemented and will remain in place 24 hours a day for the duration of the project.
