Sofia has a specialist interest in lupus and management of pregnancy in rheumatic diseases.
Training
Dr Sofia Tosounidou completed her Rheumatology and General Internal Medicine training in the West Midlands in 2014.
After completing specialist training, Sofia worked as a clinical research fellow to gain further expertise in the management of connective tissue disorders such as lupus and continued with her subspecialty interest in the management of rheumatic disease in pregnancy.
Sofia was appointed Consultant Rheumatologist at Sandwell and West Birmingham NHS Trust in November 2016 and ran the NHS lupus clinic at a regional level for 8 years.
Dr Tosounidou moved with her family to Jersey in 2023 and was appointed Head of the Rheumatology department in July 2023.
