Specialty

Mr Mark Whyman is a Royal College Certified consultant general and vascular surgeon based at Jersey General Hospital. He has lived and worked in Jersey since January 2022.

He completed his primary medical qualification in London at the Middlesex Hospital in 1984. He trained in the UK in London, Edinburgh, Bristol and Nottingham before being appointed to a consultant post in Gloucestershire in 1996, where he worked until his move to Jersey in January 2022.

Mark is on the on-call rota for general surgical emergencies and treats a number of general surgical conditions such as hernia including laparoscopic (keyhole) repair. He specialises in vascular surgery and treats:

• common conditions such as varicose veins
  
• other venous conditions such as thread veins​
  
• leg ulceration
  

He sees patients with arterial conditions such as carotid disease, aortic aneurysm and leg arterial disease causing walking problems (claudication).

Mark often sees patients referred where there are concerns about their circulation.
