About dDeaf Partnership Board
The Jersey dDeaf Partnership Board was established in March 2006.
It is a forum for various agencies who provide support to:
- dDeaf people
- those who are hard of hearing
- parents / carers of dDeaf people and those hard of hearing
The members of the forum include:
- various Government agencies
- voluntary organisations
- charitable organisations
What dDeaf means
dDeaf is a shorthand term which includes 2 different groups of people:
- deaf (those diagnosed with a hearing level below normal)
- Deaf (those who have the medical condition of deafness, whose preferred language is British Sign Language and see themselves as part of a distinct community)

It aims to provide for the needs of the above groups, and address the issues that are encountered by them.
